Video: Luis Suarez in biting controversy for the third time in his career; Giorgio Chiellini the victim

Luis Suarez appeared to bite Giorgio Chiellini during Uruguay’s match against Italy

Luis Suarez stirred the hornet’s nest once again, as he appeared to bite Giorgio Chiellini during the decisive group D encounter against Italy. As odd as this may sound, Suarez is no stranger to accusations of biting, as he has been suspended twice before for having bitten opponents during matches.

As the game between Italy and Uruguay was moving towards the last 10 minutes, the Uruguayan lent into Chiellini’s shoulders and it looked as though he bit him on his shoulder. Chiellini remonstrated with the referee aggresively, and tried showing the referee his shoulder to emphasize where exactly Suarez bit him.

That was a pivotal moment in the game, as just after that, Diego Godin headed in a corner to help Uruguay clinch qualification.

Earlier, he had bitten PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkal and was banned for 7 games, while the second instance saw him biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic and that earned him a 10 game ban.

His participation in the knockout stages of the 2014 FIFA World Cup is surely in doubt as FIFA will definitely look to take action against him.
