Luis Suarez insists England have weaknesses he can exploit

Luis Suarez expects to recover from an injury to take part in the World Cup

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has heaped praise upon Leighton Baines, believing him to be a real threat to Uruguay’s hopes of progressing beyond the group stage at this summer’s World Cup – but claims he knows the weaknesses in the England team and will be sharing them with his team-mates.

Suarez is winning his race against time to be fit for the tournament opener against Costa Rica, despite being forced to undergo surgery on his knee after a challenge by Newcastle United’s Paul Dummett on the final day of the season, and remains a threat to England’s chances of making the knock out stages of the tournament in Brazil.

Everton’s Baines has emerged as the first choice left-back after ousting Ashley Cole from his position in the England defence and Suarez believes Roy Hodgson has a fine player on his hands, feeling he could be a problem his Uruguay side will have to cope with when the two sides meet in the second round of games on June 19.

Suarez told the Guardian, “Baines is a player I like a lot.

“His focus is less on the defensive side of the game, more on getting forward, but he has got the best left foot in the Premier League.

“He’s spectacular. He has a lot of quality, he strikes the ball very well and, with good players around him, England can benefit from that. We have to be careful.

“But, they do have weaknesses at the back and I know what they are. I won’t be saying that in the paper – but in the Uruguay squad, I will,” he insisted.
