Luis Suarez: I didn’t want to face England in the World Cup
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted that he did not want to face England at the World Cup in Brazil next summer. England were drawn in a group with Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica meaning Suarez will face some of his club teammates.
The 17-goal striker has admitted, though, that prior to the draw, he did not want to face England.
“Before the draw I hoped we would not face England,” the forward said.
“When it said we would face England it was unbelievable for me.
“Italy, Uruguay, England: they all have good players. I think it’s more difficult at the World Cup, it will be very, very difficult.
“But I think in the World Cup if you want to win, then in every game you must concentrate, and you must focus against every country.”
Suarez revealed that his club captain Steven Gerrard sent him a text message, joking: ‘we are so lucky’.
