Luis Suarez free to hold talks with Arsenal

Liverpool will allow Luis Suarez to hold talks with Arsenal even after they rejected a £40m plus £1 bid for the striker.

According to the BBC, the Merseyside club still have no intention of selling Suarez but club-record bid from the North Londoners triggered a clause in his contract that allows him to consider the offer.

When asked about Suarez’s situation, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers explained: “There’s nothing new to report, he is very much a Liverpool player and over the course of the next couple of weeks we’ve got to get him up to speed.

“The support he has received from the supporters and the people of the city of Liverpool has been unrivalled.

With Arsenal losing on Gonzalo Higuain, who signed for Napoli yesterday, Arsenal seem intent on landing the controversial Uruguayan. Real Madrid, who sold the Argentine striker in a £34m deal, remain interested in Suarez but are yet to make a formal bid.
