Brendan Rodgers says Luis Suarez is not for sale

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that Luis Suarez would not be leaving the club anytime soon, either in January or in the summer.

Suarez is in fine form after his return from the ban for biting Ivanovic and Rodgers has made it clear that he has no intention of selling him.

Arsenal had made a bid for him in the Summer and there are various reports that Real Madrid could be interested in signing him in January.

Rodgers said, “No, I wouldn’t say that [he will leave]. I think he, like ourselves, wants to be at the very highest level he can be.

“And you can see by his performances he deserves to be looking at that level.

“But it also shows he has been excellent in his attitude, you see his work rate – that is the key.”

With Liverpool making good strides this season, there is no reason for the club to even think of selling their star striker. But every player has a price and it would be interesting to see if Madrid test Liverpool’s resolve.
