Report: Luis Suarez could lose £3million if he bites another player again at Barcelona
La Liga club Barcelona’s newest and most expensive signing, Luis Suarez, will have to pay a hefty fine if he bites another opponent on the field again.
The Uruguayan striker will earn about £200,000-a-week at the Camp Nou, making him the club’s fourth highest earner after Lionel Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta. He will earn almost £10 million per year with this lucrative deal.
But a clause in his contract states that should he bite another opponent again, he could be fined between 15-30% of his wages.
That comes up to almost £3 million!
The player got into trouble during the group stage match against Italy when he bit defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder.
The club are planning to appeal his current 4-month ban which will not see him on a football pitch until November. The striker is expected to be unveiled at Barcelona this week and will wear the #9 jersey.
