Luis Suarez loves Liverpool, says Edinson Cavani

Cavani says Suarez loves Liverpool

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has revealed that his Uruguayan team mate Luis Suarez is a “different man” at Liverpool this season, according to Sky Sports.

The compatriots are close friends off the pitch and also form one of International football’s deadliest strike partnership on it, with over 60 goals between them for La Celeste. The pair will carry Uruguay’s weight of expectation at the World Cup in the summer as they attempt to build on their fourth place finish in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Suarez pushed for a move away from Anfield in the summer amidst feelings of unrest following a 10 game ban and interest from Arsenal and Real Madrid, but eventually opted to stay.

The 27 year-old has been in sensational form since his return with 23 goals in 20 appearances and Cavani, who has been linked with a move Premier League side Chelsea, is adamant his friend is in good spirits.

“I speak with Luis most weeks and he is loving life at Liverpool. When I speak with him now, it sounds like a different man to that of last season. You can hear it in his voice how happy he is compared to last season.

“He has always loved Liverpool, things have not always gone well for him in England, and he told me how humbled he was by the way the club and the fans stood by him. All he wanted was to be at a team which matched his ambition, where he could play Champions League, and where he can compete for major trophies. Now Liverpool are in that place he is happy to stay,” he declared.

However, while Liverpool look likely to secure a top four spot at the moment, if Brendan Rodgers side slip up in the run-in another transfer saga involving Suarez is likely to occur, with a number of European clubs interested in prising the forward away from Merseyside if he cannot be guaranteed a place at Europe’s top table.

Suarez may have been humbled by the support he received at Liverpool, but the former Ajax man seems to value personal glory above all else.
