Luis Suarez returned to the pitch after serving a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last season during Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

The former Ajax striker had not been available for selection for a period of five months from April 22.He told the Liverpool official website , “All the time I try my best on the pitch. I’m here to help the team and help Liverpool,”

“The result is not good because we lost but the feeling is good because we played very well, we created chances and we missed.

“I know it was a difficult moment but for myself and for the team it’s very important I’m back because I can help the team and [being] off the pitch I can’t. We’ll keep going for the week and for the next game.”

The player has scored 51 goals from 97 appearances for Liverpool since he signed from Ajax in January 2011.
