Luis Suarez vows to help Liverpool in becoming title contenders

Luis Suarez in action for Liverpool against Manchester United

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has promised to put his best foot forward for the team, who stood by him even when he was looking for a move away from the club. The forward looked happy to play for the Reds in the 1-0 loss to Manchester United. Sky Sports reports.

The 26-year-old was back in action for the Reds in the Capital One Cup game against rivals Manchester United after serving a 10-match ban for a bite on Chelsea defender Branslav Ivanovic last season.

Suarez did not look like the man who wanted a move to Arsenal when the London club bid £40,000,001 for his services in the summer.

The Uruguay international had previously accused manager Brenden Rodgers of going back on his promise to allow the striker to leave the club in search of Champions League football.

In the end the Merseyside club succeeded in keeping Suarez out of the clutches of rival clubs and the striker, in turn, has set his sights on winning trophies with Liverpool.

Suarez told liverpoolfc.com: “The result is not good because we lost but the feeling is good because we played very well, we created chances and we missed.

“I know it was a difficult moment but for myself and for the team it’s very important I’m back because I can help the team and [being] off the pitch I can’t.

“We’ll keep going for the week and for the next game.

“All the time I try my best on the pitch. I’m here to help the team and help Liverpool and I’ll try my best.”

Liverpool travel to the Stadium Of Light to face Sunderland in Sunday’s Premier League match.
