Lukaku not upset at being loaned to Everton

The transfer window closed yesterday and although Chelsea never brought anyone in there was a surprise loan deal for Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian will be spending the 2013/14 season on loan at Everton, leading the line as they attempt to qualify for European football.

Kristof Terreur has been speaking about Lukaku’s move, and he had quite a few interesting things to say.

Lukaku about his move to Everton:

“I’m really happy with this transfer. I don’t know who has told the press I was unhappy with this loan. It was a crazy evening. Different clubs called me and I had to take the right decision.

I decided that Everton FC was the best choice. A more prominent club than West Brom where I had a good time. Also Mourinho talked to me, but what he told me is confidential.”

Kristof Terreur also mentioned that Malaga were also keen on taking Lukaku on a season long loan.

Although many Chelsea fans were disappointed to see Lukaku loaned out, I think it is the best thing for him at this stage. He has struggled to get game time under Jose Mourinho in the early part of the season and he really needs it if he is going to continue improving. We saw how well he did at West Brom, I expect him to do even better at Everton.

A year away at Everton will go a long way in helping Lukaku become the complete striker for Chelsea, and hopefully he’ll be here banging in the goals next season.
