Luke Shaw puts talk of Manchester United move to the back of his mind
Southampton full-back Luke Shaw has revealed that he wants to put talk regarding his proposed move to Manchester United to the back of his mind so he can focus on the World Cup, report the Express.
The 18-year-old has been in excellent form for the Saints throughout the season and was included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad ahead of veteran Ashley Cole, a just reward for his impressive performances.
The youngster’s displays have not gone unnoticed at club level either with the Red Devils reportedly set to make a £27 million bid for his services over the summer, but Shaw has refused to discuss the situation.
“It is something that is not even on my mind. Transfer talk is completely gone – I am here to focus on England and England only.
“There’s no pressure. I don’t really feel pressure. I just focus on my own game. I have come here to help the England team and I will do everything I can,” Shaw revealed.
A place on the plane to Brazil represents a huge opportunity for the left-back and he has revealed that he wants to be ready to give his all if he is handed an opportunity to play, even though he is second choice on the left flank for the Three Lions, behind Everton’s Leighton Baines.
“You never know what may happen. Leighton Baines may play in the first game for the first 10 minutes, pick up an injury and I could be in.
“I am never going to go to a tournament thinking I am not playing because if something like that does happen, I have got to be ready,” he insisted.
