Make A Difference and Chennaiyin FC present to you the MAD Super Cup
A goal. A save. A drive. A dribble. For football aficionados, these actions are synonymous with moments that provide the most joy to someone watching the beautiful game. Waking up in the morning to a room filled with posters of your favourite players and teams is one of those refreshing feelings that cannot really be replicated.
But guess what’s better than watching football? Playing it. Make A Difference (MAD), an organization that provides family-like care to children living in orphanages and street shelters, brings to you the MAD Super Cup, one of the largest of its kind amateur football leagues in India, to be held across seven cities. To be played over three days, the MAD Super Cup is a 7s football league where 32 teams will fight it out on the pitch for the ultimate winner’s trophy.
So if you’ve got passion for football in your veins and mad skills in your feet, strap up those boots and sign up to be one of the teams at the MAD Super Cup. The tournament is open to both college and corporate teams.
Football fever gripped the country late last year when the inaugural Indian Super League took off, providing football fans with an experience hitherto unseen in India. Chennaiyin FC were one of the top teams of that first edition, making it to the semi-finals and providing a lot of entertainment in the process. And Chennaiyin FC are, in fact, the event patrons of the MAD Super Cup, having come forward to be associated with the tournament and the cause.
We all have dreams, and we wish for them to be brought to fruition either through our own efforts or with the support of those around us. The MAD Super Cup at its core is much about the same values and is aimed at making dreams come true; the dreams of children at risk living in orphanages and shelter homes.
MAD organizes a number of events every year designed at funding its various educational and outreach projects for these kids and the MAD Super Cup is one of these. All proceeds from the tournament will go towards making a difference in the lives of these children.
So while fulfilling one of their own dreams, the participants would be contributing towards furthering the dreams of these other children as well.
That’s not all, there is a monetary purse for the winners and runners-up at the tournament. The winners stand to be enriched by about Rs. 24,000 while the runners-up would net Rs. 15,000.
