Mallorca 1-5 Barcelona: Player Ratings as Raphinha and de Jong carry Barca to a huge win away from home | LaLiga 2024-25
Barcelona secured a dominant 5-1 win against Mallorca at the Estadi de Son Moix in LaLiga on Tuesday, December 3. The result sees Barca extend their lead over Real Madrid to four points at the top, while Mallorca remain sixth with 24 points from 16 games so far.
Barcelona made a strong start to the game as they looked to impose themselves on Mallorca despite playing away from home. Their intent paid off early on as Ferran Torres scored in the 12th minute to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead. The hosts, however, kept their shape and showed great determination as they prevented Barca from running riot in the first half.
With 65% of the ball, Barcelona were bound to threaten the opposition. They attempted seven total shots in the first period, with three of those on target. Mallorca, on the other hand, attemted four shots. Their only shot on target came late in the first half and even resulted in the equalizer. Vedat Muriqi converted Pablo Maffeo's assist to ensure the teams were all-square at the interval.
Barcelona were handed almost an instant lifeline after the break as Johan Mojica gave away a penalty, which Raphinha stepped up to convert. The Brazilian seemed in great touch and made it a brace for himself with a well-taken goal in the 74th minute, assisted by Lamine Yamal. Mallorca were slowly and surely blown out of the water by a superior side.
Later on, substitute Frenkie de Jong came on and sealed the result for Barcelona with a handy cameo. He scored to make it 4-1 in the 79th minute with a lovely finish, and later provided an assist for Pau Victor to make it 5-1 in the 84th minute. This took the visitors far out of Mallorca's reach as they were left to lick their wounds after a heavy home defeat.
