Manchester United eye Brazilian teenager Carlos
Rio de Janeiro - Manchester United could make a move for Brazilian teenager defender Antonio Carlos this summer.
Carlos impressed Old Trafford scouts in January while captaining Brazil’s under-20 team at the South American championships in Argentina, Xinhua reports.
Officials from the English Premier League club have already made contact with Carlos’ Brazilian club Corinthians about a possible deal in the next transfer window, local media reported.
The centre-back is currently on a season-long loan to Brazilian Serie C side Oeste de Itapolis, where Corinthians are hoping to fast-track his development.
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is currently looking to bolster the heart of his defence, which is led by injury-prone veterans Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
The Red Devils already have two Brazilians in their squad — right-back Rafael and midfielder Anderson.
