Manchester City eying Cavani and Wanyama

Manchester City are eyeing Napoli’s Edinson Cavani and Celtic’s Victor Wanyama as potential summer signings to boost their squad for the next season. City is reportedly gearing up for a £60million-plus swoop for the two players.

Football Director Txiki Begiristain and City manager, Roberto Mancini, and looking to sign the two players in hopes to freshen up the squad after their recent disappointing performance, and also release a few players to meet the Financial Fair Play guidelines.

When Manchester City opened talks with Napoli for Cavani, who is currently the Serie A’s top scorer with 18 goals, they were initially put off by the club’s demand of £52 million for the player’s release clause. But with Chelsea leading the race to sign Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao, City might be ready to break the British transfer record to sign the player, but may face stiff competition from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain to sign the Uruguayan.

Manchester City scouts were seen watching Celtic’s powerhouse, Victor Wanyama, during his team’s Champions League match against Italian giants Juventus. Manchester City are looking to sell their 25-year-old Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko and then sign the Kenyan midfielder.

The Celtic star is also being closely watched by other Premier League giants, like Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
