Rumour: Manchester City's Joleon Lescott targeted by QPR after defender fails to agree West Ham deal

Joleon Lescott: Looking pastures new

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott could be set for a move to QPR as he edges closer to leaving Manchester City.

The Mirror are reporting that West Ham United had held talks with the defender but they were put out by his wage demands.

QPR won promotion to the Premier League thanks to a 1-0 win over Derby County in the Championship Play-off final and the hierarchy has already said that they have learned their lessons from their previous recent top-flight campaigns in which they first narrowly avoided and then suffered relegation back to the second-tier.

Lescott has been underused by Manchester City this season and subsequently has decided that he wants to leave. It is unfortunate for City who will lose a home grown player which could be crucial for their Champions League campaign next season Financial Fair Play regulations looming.

The paper also report that Harry Redknapp wants to sign on-loan striker Kevin Doyle from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With some high earners on their books it could be a busy off season for Redknapp and QPR as they try to balance the books at Loftus Road.
