Will the deal go through?

What’s the story?

Manchester City have made a stunning offer to Leicester City for Riyad Mahrez according to Sky Sports. The offer is reportedly a player plus a whopping £65 million.

The identity of the player is currently unknown according to the report. The English publication claims that this will be the final offer for the Algerian winger from the Cityzens.

In case you didn’t know…

Pep Guardiola had previously refused to talk about any interest in the winger. "I have interest in a lot of players and good players - there are many," Guardiola had said in his pre-West Brom press conference.

“The transfer window [closes] on the 31st. We spoke many times with the club about what is the best for the players we have and the amount of players we have. Right now we have just three strikers with Raheem (Sterling). We don't have more for the next month-and-a-half.” added the manager.

Guardiola went on to say that he wasn't expecting his main two players to return soon. He said, “Leroy [Sane] and Gabriel [Jesus] are coming back in the next five-six weeks so we don't have too much and we play every three days. We have a lot [of matches] but we want to find solutions.”

Rumour probability: 9/10

Leicester City are considering the offer according to Sky. The move will most probably be made official today as the Foxes would not want to upset their players.

Sky reports that the Leicester City players are not happy with the Algerian as he is forcing a move away. The winger failed to turn up for training yesterday and is not in the squad to face Everton tonight according to the report.

Author’s Take

It looks like Mahrez is finally getting his move away from Leicester City. The winger was keen on leaving in the summer of 2016 and then tried to leave before this season began as well.

Leicester City fans and players have every right to be unhappy with Mahrez but they also need to accept that he does deserve to play for a bigger club.
