Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea: Blues' Player Ratings as Moises Caicedo rescues a point with second-half strike | Premier League 2024-25
Chelsea came from behind to secure a crucial 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, November 3. The result sees the Blues move up to fourth place with 18 points, while the Red Devils remain 13th with 12 points to their name.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea made decent starts to the contest and showed nearly equal intent of keeping possession in the first half. The hosts attempted four shots, while the visitors attempted six as both teams hit the target once apiece in the first period. The Red Devils saw their best chance come via Marcus Rashford, who hit the post with his attempt.
Similar luck came Noni Madueke's way in an eventful first half as the Chelsea winger's shot grazed the woodwork as well. However, despite mulitple attempts from Manchester United and their rivals, neither team was able to grab the lead. The two teams approached the half-time interval deadlocked at 0-0.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca made one change at the interval as Malo Gusto made way for Marc Cucurella. However, the first roll of the dice went Manchester United's way. Rasmus Hojlund was fouled inside the 18-yard box by Robert Sanchez and the referee awarded a penalty. The hosts' captain Bruno Fernandes stepped up and converted from the spot.
However, Chelsea showed they were still very much in the game as they pegged Manchester United back almost instantly. Moises Caicedo scored the leveller for the Blues just four minutes after falling behind. He showed great composure to keep his calm and slot the ball into the net.
Although the visitors ended the game on a flourish, a draw seemed like the best possible result for the two teams. On that note, let's take a look at the player ratings for Chelsea.
