Rumour: Manchester United agree personal terms with Southampton left back Luke Shaw, Chelsea miss out

Luke Shaw will become the highest paid teenager in the World

According to various reports, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Southampton’s Luke Shaw which will be worth £160,000-a-week.

Jose Mourinho had also been looking to sign Shaw as a replacement for the released Ashley Cole, but Chelsea have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign the left back after coming to know that Manchester United have made a lucrative 5-year contract offer to the Southampton left-back.

United made a huge £27m bid for Shaw at the end of the season but it has neither been rejected nor accepted as Southampton have decided that any transfer decision will be taken only after a new manager is appointed at St.Mary’s stadium. However, Luke Shaw has made his intentions clear to the Saints that he wants to move to United without any trouble from his current club.

If the deal is completed, Luke Shaw, at 18, will become the highest paid teenage footballer in the world. Besides, he will also have to compete with Patrice Evra for a place in the first team sheet.

Luke Shaw had a prolific 2013-14 season with Southampton which also earned him his first national cap and a place in the World Cup squad. He is currently with the England squad in Brazil training ahead of their World Cup campaign.
