Rumour: Manchester United's Alexander Buttner set for January switch to Fulham

Manchester United left-back Alexander Buttner is set to move to Fulham on a loan deal when the transfer window opens in January.

Rumours suggest that the out-of-favour Dutchman who signed a five-year deal with Manchester United in August 2012 could be looking for a permanent move away from Old Trafford. Buttner’s agent has claimed that there have been offers made by Italian Serie A clubs Roma and Genoa.

The 24-year-old who joined Manchester United from Vitesse has failed to make an impact in the Manchester United first team. Having failed to look anywhere close to dislodging Patrice Evra from the left-back position and the manager David Moyes looking to bring in names like Leighton Baines and Fabio Coentrao, Buttner might well be looking at the end of his Manchester United career.

However, with Fulham boss Rene Muelensteen wanting to sign the left-back to bolster his struggling defence, Buttner may well continue to play in the Premier League. Muelensteen, who worked with Sir Alex Ferguson at United, hopes to sign the left-back on a loan deal till the end of the current season as Fulham look to shake off their relegation troubles and move up the Premier League table.
