Manchester United and Chelsea interested in Bologna's teenage star

Amadou Diawara has impressed all and sundry with his performances in the Serie A

The Premier League season has come to an end and it is that time of the year when the top clubs in England and Europe will be looking to bolster their squad for the next campaign.

Manchester United and Chelsea, like other clubs have already started their summer plans and these two clubs are set to be entering in a transfer battle in signing Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara.

According to The Express, the two top clubs from England will battle it out in the summer for the player's signature. He was signed from Serie D outfit San Marino in July 2015 as the teenager was spotted while playing by Bologna's director of football, Pantaleo Corvino.

Impressed by his skills, the Italy's top flight club made an approach and secured his services. In his debut season at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, he has been a regular inclusion in and made 34 appearances for Roberto Donadoni's side.

Should there be any move from either United and Chelsea, they will have competition from other clubs across the European continent. The player's agent Daniele Piraino has revealed that Bologna's league rivals AS Roma have already expressed their interest in signing Diawara.

In addition to this, the midfielder's representative has also admitted that the player's current employers are willing to part ways with his client, if the interested club can match their asking price. Piraino, however, stressed that he is unaware of Bologna's asking price for Guinea's new star.

“Roma are among many clubs interested. I cannot say that Diawara's sale is on the way to completion," Piraino told LaRoma24.it.

"Certainly there're many clubs interested and Roma are among them. I think Bologna want to monetise his sale, so won't accept exchanges, but I frankly don't know what figure they are asking for."

Chelsea have struggled in the Premier League and so has United. The Blues have already confirmed Italy manager Antonio Conte will be managing the west London club from the 2016/17 season, while Louis van Gaal's future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

Both these clubs will be looking to strengthen their squad. United were strongly linked with a move to sig highly rated youngster Renato Sanches from Benfica. However, the Portuguese midfielder snubbed a chance to join the Red Devils and signed for Bayern Munich.

With Diawara, United should make a quick approach if they hope to beat the likes of Chelsea, Roma and other potential suitors for the player's signature.
