Manchester United Dismantle Newcastle

Manchester United collected three important points as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side defeated Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United players 3–0 at St James´s Park on Sunday. Jonny Evans and Patrice Evra managed to score one goal each during the first half before Tom Cleverley rounded off the afternoon with a great try in the second period.

Yesterday, Newcastle United locked horns with an aggressive Manchester United team determined to extract revenge for the 3–0 defeat against The Magpies at St James´s Park last campaign. And despite home ground advantage, the home side never really stood a chance against the visitors in this league match. With just eight minutes played, Northern Ireland international Jonny Evans provided Manchester United an early 1–0 lead when the versatile defender rose to convert a well executed flag kick from Robin van Persie with an accurate and powerful header past helpless Newcastle goalkeeper Steve Harper.

Then in the 15th minute of the encounter, an unmarked Patrice Evra scored one of his rare goals as he nodded home from a Wayne Rooney corner to make the scoreboard read 2–0 in the favour of the visiting team. The Old Trafford side continued to dominate the possession of the ball after the resumption and were rewarded when midfield man Tom Cleverly curled a shot into the top corner from some twenty five yards out  to make it 3–0 to The Reds in the 71st minute of action. The victory keeps Manchester United second in the English Premier League table, four points behind leaders Chelsea who demolished Norwich City to the tune of 4–1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
