Manchester United manager David Moyes denies calling Everton fans a disgrace

David Moyes had apparently called Everton fans at Old Trafford “a disgrace”.

David Moyes has denied allegations that he called Everton’s supporters at Old Trafford “a f****** disgrace”.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Moyes’s old side Everton, a result that left them in 9th spot, 12 points adrift of table toppers Arsenal. Everton are now 5th.

There were widespread reports on social media after an Everton fan who met Moyes in a Manchester hotel tweeted the same. Apparently, Moyes was very critical of the hostile abuse from fans of the club where he served as manager for 11 years. The user (@daveywallbank) has since deleted his account after the post went viral.

A spokesperson from the club did confirm that Moyes had met the fan and had even taken a photograph together. But she also said that Moyes denied ever having uttered the phrase about the Everton fans.
