Manchester United news: Paul Pogba says Juventus is the most important club in his career
Manchester United midfielder and France international, Paul Pogba has stated that Juventus is the most important club in his career so far. The 23-year-old also revealed why he chose to come back to Old Trafford.
Pogba who was once offloaded by Sir Alex Ferguson for being a surplus requirement has now turned out to be the most expensive footballer on the planet when the Red Devils signed him from Juventus for £89 million in the summer transfer window.
The France international has now revealed his connection with the “City” of Manchester and how his childhood played a big part in his move back to Manchester United.
“A few days ago I was asked how I feel about the city of Manchester and not about clubs,” the French footballer posted on his official Facebook page. “One of the reasons why I chose to come to Manchester United is because it’s where I spent my childhood and it feels like going back home.”
The 23-year-old midfielder made his way through the Manchester United youth ranks and joined Juventus only to return to Manchester after four seasons with the Italian club.
Juventus: Most important
Despite growing up playing football in Manchester, Pogba stated that Juventus is much more important than Manchester United when it comes to his professional career.
“Juventus is the most important club of my professional career so far. On the other hand, I am willing to prove more and working for that here.”
The 23-year-old feels grateful for the Italian champions for giving him an opportunity to play, and that Juventus and its members are the reason behind his success today.
“I am very grateful and happy for the love, trust, and opportunity Juventus gave me. They played a crucial role in making me the player I am today.
“In Juventus, I developed and learned and I will always be thankful for that. I do not like or accept that my words are wrongly interpreted so let me be clear
“Juventus has a special place in my heart, the Tifosi, the club and the city. They made me feel home, always supported me and are fantastic.”
The Golden Boy award winner also insists that Manchester United holds a special place in his heart and will try to do his best to be successful and also bring success to the club.
“At the same time, Manchester United is my childhood home and the club always had a special place in my heart. I will do my best to be successful here, make my club and fans proud of me and make my dreams come true.
“I am a positive person. Negative things are interpretations of negative people who clearly do not know who I am or what I am made of.”
Although Pogba hasn’t hit the kind of form most Manchester United fans had been expecting from the French International, the 23-year-old is slowly getting the hang of the Premier League.
Pogba has been impressive in his last couple of outings for the club and has formed a great partnership with for PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Manchester United are currently in 6th position in the Premier League after the 1-1 draw against Everton on Sunday.
