Manchester United player ratings against Fulham
A great performance from the Red Devils saw them take three points from their away game at the Craven Cottage on Saturday which puts them at 8th place in the table with 17 points after 10 games.
It looks like David Moyes’ men are finally settling down under his management albeit thanks to the run of easy fixtures. It was a great first half with some delightful team-play by United which saw them score three quick goals within the first 22 minutes.
And although United could have run riot over Fulham, Moyes decided otherwise and brought in Kagawa, Smalling and Fellaini at half time, probably with one eye on the Champions League match in midweek (but later confirmed that all the three were injured and the replacements affected United’s rhythm in the second half).
Here are the player ratings:
David De Gea: 7/10
The Spaniard was not tested much throughout the game.
Rafael: 7/10
The right back had a decent game in the first half contributing both in attacks and defence, but his ankle injury meant that he couldn’t play the second half.
Patrice Evra: 8/10
The Frenchman’s attacking potential was on full display at the Craven Cottage and was equally good in doing the dirty work when covering his goal.
Jonny Evans: 6.5/10
Was effective in the first half until he was subbed.
Nemanja Vidic: 8 /10
Vidic was clearly on top of Fulham’s strike force. Was able to put in a tackle on almost all of Fulham’s attacks and continued to show why he is still one of the strongest defenders in the league.
Phil Jones: 8/10
Jones played a crucial part in United’s victory playing in a position where Carrick normally plays. The England International steadied the ship and was excellent with his defensive duties as well as carrying the attacks forward.
Antonio Valencia: 9 /10
Scored the opening goal of the game and played surprisingly well throughout the time he was on the pitch. Even when pushed to the right back role in the second half, the Ecuadorian was up to the mark
Tom Cleverley: 7.5/10
It was Cleverley’s best game for a while. The England International didn’t give possession away and playing alongside Phil Jones, he had additional responsibilities both in defence and in an attack which he did it with perfection. Would have been disappointed about missing the second half.
Adnan Januzaj: 7/10
Although not effective as he usually is, Januzaj showed glimpses of his potentials. May be Moyes will have to give the youngster a break. But overall had a promising game.
Wayne Rooney + Robin van Persie: 9/10
A man of the match performance from United’s forwards. Both Rooney and Van Persie got themselves on the score sheet with Rooney getting an assist as well. If Van Persie scored a cracker of a goal, Rooney helped United defensively with his pressing.
