Manchester United to meet Newcastle in League Cup

Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United have been drawn to entertain fellow English Premier League side Newcastle at the Theatre of Dreams in the third round of the Football League Cup on the 26th of September. Manchester United and Newcastle last played each other in January with Alan Pardew´s men winning by 3–0 at St James´ Park.

Sir Alex Ferguson has signalled that he is re-considering his policy of playing youngsters in the Football League Cup after Manchester United were drawn with Newcastle United. Sir Alex Ferguson: “I think to myself the Football League Cup match lies between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur and I say, well I´ll play the young ones but playing Newcastle means they will bring 7,000 fans with them for a cup tie at Old Trafford and play their strongest team. Now I´ll have to give careful consideration to what team I play.”
