Manchester United transfer news: Ladbrokes suspend betting on Paul Pogba joining Manchester United
London-based betting company Ladbrokes have announced the suspension of all bets on Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United. The announcement comes in light of the Twitter frenzy, that transpired after Jose Mourinho's wife accidentally shared a picture of his tactics board on Twitter, which shows inclusion of the Frenchman in his line-up.
Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Apati said: “As far as we're concerned all bets are off when it comes to Pogba making the move to United. The betting suggests he could make an immediate impact as United start what many believe will be a title-winning season."
All the bets have been suspended by Ladbrokes with immediate effect amid fears that the signing has been leaked. Although none of the parties, Manchester United, Juventus, Paul Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola have not officially confirmed the move.
Furthermore, multiple reports suggest that Pogba has agreed to personal terms and has told Juventus he wants to leave the club to join Manchester United.
The speculation comes amid claims Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has missed the club's trip to China to open negotiations. According to Tuttosport, Pogba will sign a "crazy contract" lasting five years that will double his current salary.
Earlier, Manchester United's world-record bid for Pogba was rejected by Juventus which came as a £85 million (€101m) package attached with £15m (€18m) of performance bonuses. Juventus are reportedly insisting on their counter-offer of £101m (€120), plus a further £8m (€10m) in add-ons. Moreover, according to Daily Mail, Paul Pogba will sign a contract at Man United worth a huge £200,000-per-week after tax.
Yesterday night, Twitter broke down following reports that Paul Pogba’s move has been completed. In addition to the talk in town, a credible post by a barber in Miami fueled Twitter fever further. In the posted image, he was seen giving Paul Pogba a haircut, and continued to tweet claiming the Frenchman is moving to Man Utd.
Although, a more plausible word is, that Manchester United have agreed to break the €100 million world record fee to meet Juventus’ demands, and the deal is set to complete as only Mino Raiola’s fee is yet to be finalized.
However, even if the deal pulls through, Manchester United fans won’t be able to see Pogba as he is in Miami on a vacation until 6th August.
