Manchester United transfer news: Quinton Fortune urges former club to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has bagged 11 goals in the last nine games for Borussia Dortmund after scoring four over the weekend against Hamburg. And former Manchester United player Quinton Fortune has urged his club to push for the signature of the Gabon international claiming he can make a significant impact at Old Trafford and a great addition to the squad.
However, Aubameyang has four years left on his current contract that runs till 2020. However, Fortune believes he will be perfect for the Red Devils, where players have struggled to find the back of the net consistently. Despite the additions of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan the former Premier League winner with United claims the Gabon international is an all round forward player who can play off a striker, lead the line and hold up play as well a run in behind the defence using his blistering change of pace.
A good finisher as well Aubameyang has got clubs around the world eager for the signature of the African player of the year. Fortune talking to MUTV about future signings at Old Trafford the former defender said, "Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, I like him. Pace, scoring goals, that’s what we need but, obviously we have the young Marcus Rashford. If we are going to bring someone in that can a difference, he can make a difference."
Speculations in the press are constant, after the Dortmund striker, who is currently joint top in the Bundesliga scorers list alongside Anthony Modeste. However, Aubameyang claims that he's entirely focused on the job at hand with Dortmund insisting he still has a lot to learn and offer to the German clubs who signed the striker from Saint-Etienne in 2013.
Aubameyang has claimed in the past his dream move would be to join Real Madrid, but Fortune believes if United could snap up the Gabon international, his pace, awareness and combination play with ex-teammate Mkhitaryan, can bring out the best in the Armenian as well, in helping United’s overall cause.
United has scored 16 goals this term with six belonging to Ibrahimovic who found his scoring boots again last weekend at Swansea. The transfer saga surrounding the Dortmund talisman is far from over as more clubs are being urged to sign the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
