Manchester United transfer rumour: AC Milan want Morgan Schneiderlin in January
Serie A giants AC Milan are preparing to land Manchester United’s defensive midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin at San Siro, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato. AC Milan is showing signs of returning to the peak of their historical successes after hitting form early this season. Despite a series of narrow wins, AC Milan are placed third in the Serie A just five points off league leaders Juventus and it seems they are willing to step up their pursuit in the next transfer window.
To do so, AC Milan has identified United’s out of favour midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as a worthy addition to their squad. The Italian club is hoping to secure a loan deal with an option to make it permanent and could join Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign him.
Morgan Schneiderlin has fallen down the pecking order due to the arrival of the world’s most expensive player – Paul Pogba. Furthermore, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho extended the club veteran Michael Carrick’s contract and fit Ander Herrera into the role that seems to be paying dividends. The manager has also keenly experimented with using Marouane Fellaini in central midfield but is yet to turn to Schneiderlin.
During Louis Van Gaal’s term, Manchester United signed Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin as part of an attempt to revive the Red Devil’s central midfield. However, there still might be a midfield crisis at Old Trafford and it seems Jose Mourinho doesn’t think of turning to either Morgan Schneiderlin or Bastian Schweinsteiger for a solution. World Cup winning captain Schweinsteiger has been controversially treated by the manager while Schneiderlin is yet to start a game in the Premier League.

Morgan Schneiderlin has made two appearances off the bench in the league and has been handed starts in other competitions with questions over his line-up role. Other clubs have already picked up the knowledge and transfer requests could easily be on their way in hunt of the Frenchman.
Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur have already been rumoured to be in the race. Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew and Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino would seemingly like a reunion with Schneiderlin who they had managed during their time at Southampton. Last year, the Spurs even had a bid rejected by Manchester United but sources have revealed that Mourinho could let him go for half the fee they had signed him for from St. Mary’s.
