Manchester United transfer rumour: Nani set to end Old Trafford career
Luis Nani is set to end his Manchester United career and will leave Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
According to the reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A champions Juventus are interested in signing the Portuguese international this summer. The 27-year-old signed a new five-year contract last September after the former manager David Moyes convinced he has a future at the club.
However, during the 2013-14 season, Nani saw his first team appearances being limited by injuries coupled with poor form. The Italian journalist now believes that his time at Old Trafford has come to an end after spending seven seasons with United since 2007.
Juventus are keen on expanding their squad for the next season and has set their sights on bringing Nani to Turin in the summer. The Portuguese international is believed to be not preferred by incoming United manager Louis van Gaal.
Nani scored his national side's first goal against USA in the group stage fixture of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Italian champions have long been interested in signing the Portuguese star and will step up their efforts in luring him in the upcoming transfer window.
United winger Antonio Valencia signed a new three-year contract over the weekend. This means the Ecuadorian international will continue at Old Trafford longer, being preferred ahead of Nani. In addition to this, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager could give a chance to Wilfried Zaha, who will return from his loan spell at Cardiff City.
Nani was set to leave United in the summer of 2012 and join Zenit Saint Petersburg. However, the Russian club could not match the winger's personal terms, forcing for the deal to collapse in the final stages.
With Adnan Januzaj shining for United last season and Valencia signing a new contract, Nani is all set to leave United this summer transfer window to improve his playing time for the next season.
