Manchester United's Wayne Rooney desperate to win his first FA Cup
Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney hopes to win the FA Cup for the first time in his career. The Scouser is in his 11th season at Old Trafford and has won five Premier League titles, two Football League Cups, and one Champions League but he is yet to lift the FA Cup.
The Manchester United captain revealed that he had fond memories of watching his boyhood club Everton beat Manchester United in the 1995 finals. Rooney now will hope to bring an end to Manchester United’s FA Cup drought by defeating the holding champions Arsenal en route to winning the title.
"We have an FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal on Monday and that is massive for us," Rooney told United's official website. "We haven't been to a final for a few years, we want to try to win that game and we are looking forward to that.”
"Of course, I think it is a massive trophy. It is a trophy that, growing up as a youngster, I used to love watching and I was fortunate enough to see Everton lift the FA Cup in 1995 when I was nine years old. It is something which I would love to do and hopefully it can be this year."
The Red Devils face Arsenal in the quarter-finals, with Liverpool the only other major Premier League team still remaining in the tournament.
