After the resumption of football after Germany’s winter break, Bayern Munich are top of the Bundesliga with 49 points, while Dortmund are in 2nd place, trailing the Bavarians by 8 points. Despite the gap, Marco Reus believes that Dortmond have what it takes to overcome the chasm, hoping that a clear focus on their targets will help the Schwarzgelben achieve an unlikely league triumph.

Speaking to the official website of the Bundesliga, Reus underlined his title ambitions, saying “If you don't always have a target, you are in the wrong line of work. You want to achieve something, play well, win titles and be a good member of the team.”

“Catching Bayern is going to be tough. They are too consistent. We have improved on last season, but not enough just yet. The bottomline is it is all about the points you have at the end of the season. Then we will see where we are.”

Reus pays tribute to Thomas Tuchel

Dortmund are unbeaten in their 12 home games this season, winning 11 of the fixtures played in the Signal Iduna Park. Reus takes hope from the Die Borrusein’s  home form, but also credits current Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel with the improvement, after last year’s dismal 7th place finish that resulted in the end of Jurgen Klopp’s eventful tenure.

“Looking at the bigger picture, we have had a decent season so far. We scored a lot of goals and played a lot of good games. It wasn't easy with a new coach and a new philosophy. We wondered how much time we would need, but right from the start we have been putting in some great performances.”

Borussia Monchengladbach were witness to one of those great performances in Dortmund’s last game, as the Ruhr-valley giants laid waste to Die Fohlen with a 3-1 victory at Borussia Park. Marco Reus was on the scoresheet for the Schwarzgelben, scoring for the first time against the club that developed him as a player.

Dortmund continue their Bundesliga chase with a game against Bundesliga surprise outfit FC Ingolstadt at the Westfalenstadion on Saturday.
