Mario Balotelli apologises after being sent off against Napoli
Mario Balotelli was sent off in the highly anticipated clash between AC Milan and Napoli which ended 2-1 in the favour of Rafael Benitez’s team. Balotelli missed the first penalty of his career and was later sent off for dissent.
Balotelli agreed that he let his side down but claimed that he was provoked which led him to behave in that manner. AC Milan has decided not to appeal against the 3 match ban that Balotelli has been imposed.
“I apologise to my team-mates, who train hard every day. I also apologise to the referee,” he told Sky Sports Italia. “I reacted the wrong way to provocation.”
“Mario has made a mistake. He has been provoked and made a mistake in reacting.”
“If Mario makes a bad mistake, Mario should be punished. But against Napoli it was the same old story, the fouls against me didn’t count for anything, I was the only one who could do anything wrong.” said a dejected Balotelli.
