Mario Balotelli urges City not to give up on Mancini
With all the speculation surrounding Roberto Mancini’s future with Manchester City, former City striker and fellow Italian, Mario Balotelli has urged his former club to not sack Mancini.
There have been widespread rumours that suggest successors to Mancini may be Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti or Manuel Pellegrini. But despite being sold to AC Milan in January, Balotelli still believes in Mancini and urges City to the do same.
Balotelli was all praise when speaking about Manicini. He said “There is nobody better for City. Most importantly, the players like him. If you asked who they want next season, every single player would say Roberto. He’s not just their coach but also their friend.”
He compared the Italian manager to Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, saying that despite City suffering a barren season, they will eventually bounce back. Balotelli said “Look at the success Roberto has had, the FA Cup and a first championship in over 40 years. Even Alex Ferguson does not win a trophy every year, but he always comes back.”
Balotelli’s comments a few days after reports saying that Mancini will be given time till the end of the season, to prove to the Club Officials that he is the right man for the job. Should he fail to prove his worth, the Club will look for a suitable replacement to lead the team.
Mourinho, Ancelotti, Pellegrini and Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp are the favourites to replace Mancini.
