Marseille post win over Toulon in a half football-half rugby match

In a unique half-football half-rugby match in between Marseille and Toulon, Marseille took up the honour of representing football while Toulon were representing rugby at Stade Felix Mayol de Toulon.

In the end, it was Marseille who registered their win for football with a 36-35 score.

Marseille started the game with cool composure by two goals from goalkeeper Steve Mandanda who was playing as a midfielder. Later Toulon replied with three goals thus taking the lead.

In the second half, Marseille came back with three goals thus winning back the lead.

Delon Armitage however pulled back a few conversions to put Toulon up ahead yet again, but eventually it was Marseille who secured a 31-31 draw late on.

It was a charity even with the aim to raise money for a good cause. What brought more limelight into the game was Manchester United legend Eric Cantona and former France rugby union coach Marc Lievremont featuring as referees.
