Martin Jol sacked as Fulham's manager
Many following the Chelsea Vs Southampton match on Star Sports 4 would have noticed a ticker stating the change guard at Craven Cottage.
Sportskeeda can now confirm that Martin Jol has been sacked by Fulham FC and the management has decided that head coach Rene Meulensteen will take up the responsibility at the helm of affairs for the London club.
Jol, 57, was in charge of the Cottagers since June 2011 and his dismissal has come on the back of five straight league defeats. “Our poor form and results this season are undeniable, and Fulham supporters deserve better,” said Fulham chairman Shahid Khan in a statement. Fulham, 18th in the table, are just two points above Sunderland and three above Crystal Palace in the relegation zone.
“With more than half the season still ahead, an immediate change was necessary and Martin was very gracious and I appreciate his understanding of the situation,” the statement from chairman Khan said.
