Martin Keown hopes Liverpool's Luis Suarez doesn't end Arsenal's title dream

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could end The North Londoners title challenge when the sides meet on Saturday, according to Talk Sport.

The Gunners made a cheeky bid for the Uruguayan in the summer, over a misinterpretation of a clause in his contract and Arsene Wenger’s side will have to be on top form to stop the in form forward from wrecking their title hopes.

Although Arsenal returned to the top of the table with victory over Crystal Palace they could be toppled by Manchester City, who face Chelsea on Monday night. The Gunners then face a gruelling run of fixtures and missing out on a front man of Suarez’s calibre could come back to the haunt them during the run-in amidst concerns over the striking options available to Wenger.

“I hope he doesn’t end Arsenal’s season because they fought very hard to get him and I think they realised they needed that type of player. He would have been the icing on the cake,” Keown declared.

Arsenal claimed a 2-0 victory over their rivals at The Emirates earlier in the season and Wenger will be desperate to put an 11 point gap between his side and The Merseysiders.

Luis Suarez has 23 league goals this season while the combined total of Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott is 20.
