Mats Hummels' father has stated that he will not be joining Manchester United

Manchester United may be forced to end their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels after the players father stated that his son is happy in his homeland.

The Old Trafford club, who recently let go of longtime defensive duo Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have been looking for capable replacements and were determined to secure the signature of Hummels.

However the defenders father Herman who also doubles as his agent has seemingly thrown water on the Old Trafford club’s plans.

‘I know Louis van Gaal from his time at Bayern Munich,’ he said. ‘He’s not contacted me about Mats moving to Manchester [United] though.

‘I have heard some rumours but Mats is happy at Dortmund at the moment, and only thinking about the World Cup.’

The German international has been ever present for Dormund since signing for them from Bayern Munich is 2008 and even helped them reach the Champions League finals last year.

The 25-year-old will also be a part of Germany’s squad in this years World Cup.
