Mats Hummels tells fans the Borussia Dortmund statement, regarding his transfer, was misleading
Borussia Dortmund captain and centre-back Mats Hummels has told a bunch of fans outside the club's training complex that the statement they had put out a few days ago was 'misleading' and 'sh*tty'.
The Ruhr club released a statement last week confirming that the 27-year-old defender had asked the club if he could return to his former club, Bayern Munich. The defender, though, is adamant that going back to Munich isn't his only option with plenty of other clubs also interested in securing his services.
Linked with the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, Hummels did admit – through his agent – that a move back to his former club, Bayern Munich, was also a possibility. Bayern, meanwhile, have also reiterated their interest – through their Chairman – that they'd be willing to re-sign the defender on a permanent deal this summer.
Hummels' current deal expires at the end of next season and has often admitted that he'd like a change in scenery having spent seven years at the Westfalenstadion. Manchester United, Juventus and Barcelona were the three front-running candidates to secure his signature but a late push by Bayern Munich reportedly swayed his mind.
Speaking to fans outside the Borussia Dortmund training complex, Hummels confirmed that the statement the club released was not accurate and that there was nothing in place for a deal that saw his head back to the Allianz Arena.
"This sh*tty statement has made a misleading expression," Hummels confirmed.
"I have no idea why they had to do it.
"Everything is possible and nothing is decided yet."

Hummels has made fourty-one appearances for Thomas Tuchel's club this season scoring three goals and assisting a further four but has ensured that the backbone for the success of the team was due to his performances with the back-line partnering either Sokratis or Neven Subotic.
