Mexico sack manager Jose Manuel de la Torre
Mexican national football team has confirmed the departure of manager Jose Manuel de la Torre after the team’s 2-1 loss against Honduras in their 2014 World Cup qualifier at the Estadio Azteca.
The loss against Honduras was the first in the last 27 matches for Mexico at Azteca, and the result exacerbated Rorre’s case.
Mexico also confirmed that Luis Fernando Tena will take up the post left by Torre on an interim basis and Tena will have his first real test against Jurgen Klinsmann’s US team at Columbus on Tuesday.
Mexico has just won once in their seven matches of the final round of CONCACAF qualifying. However, Mexico is just 6 points behind leaders Costa Rica in the six-team CONCACAF group.
