Mohammedan Sporting Club went down fighting 1-2 against Mohun Bagan in the U19 I-League Kolkata Zonal Round at Kamalgazi Netaji Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon (24th December).

Mohammedan started off well and played some attacking football since very beginning, Mohammedan's attacking football paid off as the Black Cubs scored in 12th minute but the goal was ruled out due to an offside decision. Mohun Bagan took the lead against the run of the play in the 17th-minute courtesy of an Adarsh Tamang goal, but Mohammedan responded immediately with the equalising goal through Diptanu Das in the 19th minute.

Despite a few other scoring chances, no more goals came in the first-half as the teams went into the half-time locked at a goal apiece.

In the second-half Mohammedan maintained pressure on the Mohun Bagan defence but somehow failed to find the back of the net with Omeer Hossain and SK Suraj Ali unable to finish the chances created. However, Mohun Bagan took the lead in the 84th minute through Pintu Mahato, and that goal eventually turned out to be the difference between the two teams.

Mohammedan lodged a formal complaint with the AIFF against Mohun Bagan for fielding two over-age players, namely, Adarsh Lama Tamang & Marshal Bomram. Sporting will host East Bengal next on Sunday (28th December) at the same venue.
