Mohun Bagan extend striker C.S. Sabeeth's contract
Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC have extended the contract of 22 year old striker C.S. Sabeeth for another year for the 2013/14 season.
Sabeeth had been signed from Pailan Arrows last season as a back-up for Odafe Onyeka Okolie and Tolgay Ozbey, and with Tolgay having some injury problems and coach Karim Bencharifa sometimes playing a three man attack, Sabeeth got his playing time at the Mariners.
Mohun Bagan coach Karim Bencherifa said about the striker, “Sabeeth was going through a lot of ups and downs in the last season. He was very down after we drew against Prayag United in I-League because we conceded the goal at the dying moment after Sabeeth lost possession of the ball. He did work very hard since then and tried his best to get his form back. He has shown great improvement and I hope that he will continue with his good form in the next season too.”
Overall Sabeeth scored 10 goals in all competitions, having played in 17 of the 26 I-League games; which makes good reading for a young striker at a big club like Mohun Bagan.
Now with Tolgay having left for Mohammedan Sporting and so far no real second striker signed by the club, this could increase Sabeeth’s chances of playing; which could also lead him making it back into the Indian national team.
