Mohun Bagan sign Kenyan Harrison Eric Muranda as fourth foreigner

Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC earlier today announced that Kenyan striker Harrison Eric Muranda would be their fourth foreigner for the 2013/14 season after much search and trials for a suitable striker to supplement captain Odafe Onyeka Okolie.
Mohun Bagan in a press release said, “We are glad to inform you that today after an extensive meeting with the Chief Coach, Mr. Karim Bencherifa and the officials connected with the Football Team, the Club has decided to recruit Kenyan striker, Harrison Eric Muranda as our fourth foreigner for the season 2013-2014.”

“The decision was taken after evaluating his past football records which includes his experience of playing in South East Asia, extensive trials, including assessing him as a player and also as a human being (bonding with the rest of the Team) from 22nd August 2013 and comprehensive medical tests (including his health and fitness level),” the release ended.

Much travelled 31 year old Harrison Eric Muranda started his career with Mumias Sugar FC before playing for Al-Bustan Club (Oman), St. George FC (Ethiopia), Tusker FC (Kenya), Victory SC (Maldives), Sporting Afrique FC (Singapore), Dam Phu Nam Dinh FC (Vietnam), Hoa Phat Hanoi FC (Vietnam), Song Lam Nghe An FC (Vietnam), Tay Ninh FC (Vietnam), Rangers FC and Nairobi City Stars in his home country before coming to Kolkata.

Muranda was signed by Mohun Bagan after Nigerian I-League top scorer Ranty Martins Soleye decided to stay back at financial struggling United SC and not accept the Mariners offer.

Eric Muranda is the green-and-maroon clubs fourth and final foreigner, and he will partner Nigerian forward Odafe Onyeka Okolie upfront with the club also signing Japanese midfielder Katsumi Yusa from ONGC and retaining Nigerian defender Anyichie Echezona Celestine.
