Mohun Bagan sign Nigerian central defender Fatai Adisa Alao
Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan have confirmed the signing of Nigerian central defender Fatai Adisa Alao.
The 27-year-old becomes the club’s second foreigner for the 2014-15 season with Japanese Katsumi Yusa already retained.
Alao last played for Yemen club Al Oruba and scored the winner against East Bengal in Kolkata in the 2012 AFC Cup group stage. Alao’s performances in the two matches against East Bengal made him a target of the red-and-gold brigade two years ago but the deal didn’t work out.
He first played for Al Ittihad in Yemen before spending five seasons with Al Oruba. Mohun Bagan’s new recruit is expected to arrive in Kolkata soon and will be examined by the club doctor besides going through a physical test under Brazilian physical trainer Djair Miranda Garcia.
Mohun Bagan started their pre-season preparations earlier this month and are determined to end their trophy drought by winning the IFA Shield in July.
