Mohun Bagan to rely on Odafa, Tolgay might get a chance to perform.
Today two giants from Kolkata, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting, are taking each other in the CFL Premier League match at the Yuba-Bharati stadium. Both teams are under quite some pressure. While Mohun Bagan’s fate is still hanging regarding the derby day issue, this match is a do-or-die game for Mohammedan coach Alok Mukherjee.
Mohun Bagan’s Aussie striker Tolgay Ozbey has recovered from his knee injury, and might play for some time. In the absence of Mohun Bagan’s coach Karim Bencharifa, assistant coach Mridul Bhattcharya is monitoring all the major issues. Yesterday, after their practice session, he told the reporters that Tolgay will play for some time in the second half. Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan is still relying on their prime striker and captain Odafa Okolie for goals. After the derby match scandal, today’s big match is going to be a tough hurdle for the Mariners. Though some players are injured, Mohun Bagan players are quite confident of winning this match.
On the other hand, Mohammedan coach Alok Mukherjee is very keen to win this match, as this might hand him a chance to continue coaching the side. As per latest reports, Mohammedan officials have already taken a decision to appoint Raghu Nandi after today’s match. If something goes wrong today, then Alok Mukherjee might have to follow the same route as Mohun Bagan’s former coach Santosh Kashyap and Prayag United’s former coach Sanjoy Sen.
