Mohun Bagan's physio-cum-rehab specialist Jonathan Corner leaves for home

I-League side Mohun Bagan AC will from tomorrow onwards have to do without their English Physio-cum-Rehab Specialist Jonathan Corner as he returns to England. He is being replaced by Soumya Bhattacharya, who until recently was associated with Shillong Lajong FC.

Jonathan had served his resignation letter to the Kolkata club officials giving a one’s month notice after having spend two years with the Mariners. Jonathan will be leaving for England tomorrow as he wanted to be close to his family and he is likely join a rehab center back in England.

Speaking before his departure Jonathan Corner said, “I was very happy in Mohun Bagan but I decided to leave to be close to my family. I had a great time here especially working with Coach Karim Bencherifa, who I consider to be one of the best coaches at this moment among all the I-League clubs.”

Meanwhile new physio Soumya Bhattacharya was associated with I-League rivals Shillong Lajong for around four-and-a-half years and he was chosen by coach Karim Bencherifa and Jonathan Corner, who took interviews of few physiotherapists after shortlisting their names from the send in CVs.

Jonathan Corner for his good work and dedication was not only a favourite amongst the Mohun Bagan players, but also players from other I-League clubs, who would come to Kolkata for their rehab under him.
