Monaco close in on Falcao

Monaco are said to be close to signing a £50m deal for the Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao after Monaco’s sporting director Vadim Vasilyev admitted that things were “progressing well.”

Vadim Vasilyev told French radio station RMC: “Things are progressing well, but it’s not finalised yet, there are still some details to sort out. We really want to complete the transfer of this great player. He is among the best players in the world; we will be very happy when he signs. He really believes in the future of Monaco.”

AS Monaco, who got promoted to Ligue 1 after they won the second division, have been on a spending spree as they have already signed Porto midfielders Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez. The addition of the 27-year-old Colombian, who scored 32 goals for Atletico Madrid this season, will bolster their chances of giving the French giants’ Paris Saint-Germain a tough time.

However, Vasilyev has ruled out any move for the Manchester City‘s Carlos Tevez as he dismissed all the reports surrounding the Argentine striker.

“Many newspapers talk about it but this issue has never been discussed,” added Vasilyev.
