Monaco has appointed Thierry Henry as the head coach
Former Arsenal player and France International Thierry Henry has been appointed by Monaco as the head coach.
Henry made his professional debut with Monaco back in 1994, and his good form with Monaco led to a call up to the national team.
After that he had a short spell with Juventus, then he moved on to Arsenal because of the amount of game time he was getting with the Italian giants. He scored 228 goals in all competitions and became Arsenal's all time leading goal scorer.
Since Monaco has had a terrible season so far under the leadership of Leonardo Jardim, they decided to sack him and appoint Henry instead. Henry is more than happy with the job.
He expresses his feelings saying, ''Monaco will always be close to my heart. I'm incredibly excited to be given this opportunity but now the hard work must begin."
PSG has been the reigning champions of Ligue 1 in the last ten years, and Monaco has won only one season to date. They already have five losses this year, and they would be keen on winning the rest of the matches of the season.
Henry's first game as the head coach will be against Stratsbourg and he is already gearing up to start his managing career with a much needed win.
Henry won two Premier League titles and two FA cups when he was in North London, then he won the treble of La Liga, Copa Del Rey and Champions League with Barcelona in 2008-09.
He enjoyed quite a bit of success when he played for France. After becoming France's record goalscorer he retired and started coaching. He was soon appointed as the assistant coach of Belgium and he helped the team finish third in the World Cup.
The Monaco camp is also very happy to have Henry on board and Monaco's chief executive commented on Henry's passion and commitment towards football and his ability to bring forth a dynamic change in the team. The Monaco camp would hope that Henry lives up to the expectations and takes Monaco out of this winless draught.
