Monaco striker Falcao admits desire to play for a Premier League club
Monaco striker Falcao has claimed he would like to play in the Premier League one day, alerting Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, who are all in the market for attackers.
The striker, who scored just nine goals in Ligue 1 last season, is struggling to regain his fitness ahead of the World Cup after suffering a knee ligament injury earlier this year.
He has long been linked with a move to the Premier League but ended up in the south of France with Monaco last summer after leaving Atletico Madrid. He did not enjoy the best of seasons and could well be on his way to England in the near future.
Falcao certainly would like to, saying: ”I hope to be playing for many more years in Europe and I want to play in the English league at some time.
“I watch the Premier League and I see how competitive it is and how teams are very direct in terms of looking for the opposition’s goal.
“The football is very physical, it’s a very interesting league.”
The Colombian striker has fours remaining on his current contract with Monaco and, after costing the French club £50 million last summer, it would take something quite substantial to prise him from their possession in future.
However, at the age of 28, it is now unlikely that any other of the top Premier League sides would bring him in for such an expensive fee. It would certainly be quite the risk.
