Moratti dismisses rumors of Mourinho returning to Milan
Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti has dismissed all rumors suggesting Madrid boss Jose Mourinho’s return to his former club at San Siro this summer.
Mourinho’s statement suggesting his next move to a “destination where I have coached before”, set the hopes of his former clubs including Chelsea, Inter Milan and Porto soaring high for the pricey catch.
However, Moratti was quick to negate all the speculations of Mourinho’s return. The Portuguese had a very successful stint with Inter, winning the Serie A twice, the Italian Cup, the Supercoppa Italiana and the Champions League.
Moratti said, “I exchanged some courtesy text messages with Mourinho. Of course his loyalty and love for Inter are pleasing. (But) there aren’t the right conditions for a return to Inter and I haven’t discussed an eventual project with him.”
Indicating whether the Inter coach, Andrea Stramaccioni, will be there till the end of the season, he said, “I think so, yes. We knew it would be a tough year, but I want to confirm him and he is picking up valuable experience for the future.”
Moratti also expressed his happiness over Balotelli’s move to their rivals AC Milan. He admitted that it is satisfying to see the striker play with a smile again after his not so good seasons at Manchester City.
He concluded, “I still have great respect for the player. We knew that we wouldn’t bring him back once he went to Manchester City, but I note he is maturing a great deal and I’m happy about that.”
